And how can children be innocent victims in a place they should feel completely safe – their school? It is hard for us to wrap our minds around this, and to comprehend the level of evil that drives someone to commit this type of crime. Hands of Fate was written and produced to try to address the needless violence that plagues our society, to spread awareness and to to whatever is possible to benefit the innocent victims.
The level of devastation experienced after the Sandy Hook shootings tragedy was overwhelming. It makes us all wonder, how can something like this actually happen?
Why do smiles die in the hands of fate
And why must laughter turn to tears?
In a place where dreams came true
Hearts were shattered like broken glass
It was a place where no one knew
Those dreams would never last
Blasting fear tainted with red
Hatred at the hands of a coward
Non-stop and moving ahead
Fueled and blinded by false power
Why do smiles die in the hands of fate
And why must laughter turn to tears?
When was this world conquered by hate
We let this happen through the years
Through the years, through the years
We forgot what love was all about
We did not teach it to our sons
We did not give it to our daughters
And now the damage has been done
Don’t cry baby it will be all right
Those angel wings will take you away
Away from fear and into the light
Where you’ll forever be okay
Why do smiles die in the hands of fate
And why must laughter turn to tears?
When was this world conquered by hate
We let this happen through the years
Smiles have died in the hands of fate
Why did laughter turn to tears?
When was this world conquered by hate
We let this happen through the years
Through the years, through the years
